I began tinkering with HTML and CSS back in 1998, and began teaching myself how to build simple, static websites for myself and several friends who owned small businesses.
I progressed through table-based, fixed-width pages to multi-column frameworks such as Blueprint and Bootstrap. From early 800×600 displays and 256 “web-safe” colors to full HD monitors displaying 16 million+ colors. From Netscape, Internet Explorer, and AOL to dozens of browser choices.
In 2009 I discovered WordPress, and was impressed by how quickly I could build a custom site, add features and functions, and turn it over to a client who could then manage his own content.
WordPress and I have come a long way since then. It has become a platform that is fully mobile-friendly, SEO-friendly, and today powers more than 30% of the entire web.
